Harlem’s Northside Center for Child Development, Inc. (www.northsidecenter.org) held its annual fundraiser at Cipriani’s on Wall Street on Thursday, May 8th, raising over $1.1 million dollars to benefit families across east and central Harlem. Some 500 guests attended the event to honor four outstanding and dedicated individuals, and a premier law firm: Howard Cross and Patrick Murphy of the leading real estate firm, CB Richard Ellis; Arthur D. Emil, Partner, Cohen Tauber Spievack & Wagner; Deborah C. Wright, Chairman and CEO of Carver Bancorp; and the law firm Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel. All received the distinguished Mamie Award named after co-founder of Northside, Dr. Mamie Phipps Clark.

Co-anchor of CBS2 News This Morning, Maurice Dubois, successfully emceed the Gala by emphasizing the importance of the work done by Northside and the need to support community-based organizations. Dr. Thelma Dye, Executive Director and CEO of Northside, added that NCCD, “couldn’t do the work we do without the generous support of loyal donors, and of course the seasoned, professional staff who are committed to serving the community.”
