Central Harlem Services of Northside Center for Child Development, Inc. a strength-based perspective is at the core of the development and implementation of comprehensive mental health services, along with a sensitivity to the spiritual needs of the community. The combined legacies of both organizations (Northside Center and Harlem Interfaith Counseling Center which was originally CHS) have historically serviced the Greater Harlem community by addressing the psychosocial stressors, which often impact members of communities of color. Social problems such as addiction, domestic violence, limited access to education and employment, and ineffective parenting practices often result in an individual and/or family experiencing emotional conflict. When this occurs, it is important for quality, culturally competent services to be offered within the community. Central Harlem Services of Northside Center's response to these issues includes the following interventions:
- A multidisciplinary approach to diagnostic assessment and treatment planning for adults, children and adolescents.
Individual, family and group treatment modalities.
Comprehensive case management within a clinical context to include: assisting clients needing to access additional services i.e., health care, educational services and other community-based resources.
